Douceur & Douleur

A collection of poetry by a woman in a pirogue

Cover of Douceur & Douleur: pink and green foliage with the title drawn by hand.

Douceur & Douleur traces an itinerary at the crossroads of the intimate and the political, an interlacing of memory, revolt and love. Through a poetry by turns caress and tempest, I explore the pulse of the heart and the tremors of the soul.

Yet this collection is also a decolonial, feminist cry, a gentle mutiny against imposed silences. Between the silences of yesterday and the struggles of today, these poems trace paths of transmission. Here, every word is a crossing, a passage extended between the self and the world.

Singular, most likely, this book is an instant, a fragment of life offered unfiltered, for all those who seek to recognise themselves, to breathe, to exist fully.
